This guideline explains how City of Pottsville residents must properly dispose of mattresses and box springs. All mattresses and box springs must be bagged and sealed in plastic mattress bags when placed curbside for collection.

Residents may continue to set out bulk furniture, such as sofas, for collection at curbside up to one item per month. Mattresses and box springs must be bagged and sealed in plastic mattress bags when placed curbside. Items may be set out on your regularly scheduled trash/bulk service day.
Recent infestations of bed bugs have spread from mattresses to employees as they make curbside pickups. All mattresses and box springs must now be wrapped in plastic before collection.
